My first historical research project was sparked by gaps I saw on this page when I first visited a few years ago, looking for the name of the first woman Regent. The page originally ended with the 1904 appointments and I began looking around for sources that would bring the page up to date. This project meant spending time in the New York State Library in Albany looking at Regents minutes from the early 1900s, going through the New York State Red Books in the University at Buffalo library, and searching newspapers for death and retirement announcements. I can’t be 100% confident the entire table is accurate but every entry is supported with a primary source!
